What system have I got?

I have a gloworm fuelsaver mk 11 in kitchen, looks old, with a water ?thing tank in one bedroom upstairs.I can set the heating and heat water via a timer in the kitchen.Ok have no idea what system I have got?
My shower is very poor, would like to revamp bathroom a bit,but what sort of shower can I use with this type of heating,I am clueless, obviously won,t be doing it myself but would like to research some options with the type of boiler I have.Is it just an electric shower I look for,a power shower, etc. The boiler runs fine at moment, bit clunky but so far been reliable,am in a quandry whether to update or keep with it as long as possible.Am concerned how much replacing the boiler, central heating would be.Any suggestions would be great.Thank you.

Conventional, open-vented, fully pumped system. Keep it until it breaks beyond economic repair, spend your money on improving your hot water system.

i agree. keep it until it breaks then fit a new combi boiler. (budget about 1500 to 3k)
for now, you may want to fit a cheap electric shower. a plumbed in shower needs a good head from the tank. if your tank is not high enough, itll never be any good.
    Get some gorm.

Thank you for replies,I will keep boiler,I can,t justify replacing it when it does work. Can you explain what you mean by updating water system? Can I get rid of the tank in bedroom?Being somewhat daft,is the tank full of water as such?It makes the bedroom very hot and whilst I have so far had no problems, reading about it needing to be high for a good shower has made me think?Should the tank be in attic, how else can I get hot water? Is there a simpler way?

Try using a negative head pump
