Reactor, I don't know how long you are expected to stay with the tariff but I see no suggestion that you only receive it after one year. As far as I can see you can sign on today and still receive the discount in January?

I have got all my old bills and letters, I have just gone through them for the first
year and it seems they charged me for over 6000 units at the higher rate
for the first year I checked, thats about 1500 units over what they should have
charged and works out at about £23.
I don't have a letter about the charging method either so they will be getting a claim
from me in due course when I have checked all the other bills.

Keep up posted if more errors come to light..

It seems I thought it was Jan 2010, howevr it is still not clear which tarifs it applies too,
I am suspicous as to why they don't make that clear, especially as they have stolen money from me in the past.

Thanks for your advise reactor.. I called them to enquire if they would send me all the bills from feb 03 thru present day.

I have had no end of trouble with NPower. They have constantly given me the runaround on several other matter over the 5 years i have been with them, so its time to have a go back.

There are many MSE members that are very knowledgable with calculating the gas usage etc so no dobt i'll be needing help when i recieve the bills.

    Thanks again

    K

Yes it's a bit of a pain doing the figures, but basically I just added up the units at the higher rate in a year from April to April or as close as I could get to that.
Then take 4,572 from that figure. Then you need to multipy that by the differene between the two rates.
However as the rate change over the year I am not sure what you do about that.

I think my second year ws OK but I left midway through the third which I think was one of the dodgy years, however looking back at that it seems I have been charged for all the gas at the higher rate which sems unfair.

What surprises me is why Npower's bosses have not been jailed, but that's another matter, I might make a complaint to the police and see what they say.

Yes, it's a clear case of criminal behaviour, why would I ignore that?
Are these companies above the law?

If you did similar you would be behind bars, no doubt about it.

if you do make a complaint to the Police.. it would be interesting to know if they take your complaint seriously? My Guess is they would advise you to either talk to the regulator or maybe even the CC

I would be rather hoping the police would be arresting the 'regulator' as well.
