Thanks for the tip. I used the provider for a trust return to 5 April 2011. Their web site at: sa2000 dot co dot uk (sorry - could not post it as a link as I am "new" to the forum) made it all very easy. I only wish I'd done it before October and let HMRC do the work as it is a v simple trust. However the "sa2000"software was very easy to use and worked a treat0

I found this thread while attempting to file my late Father-in-law's Will Trust return. After 4 years HMRC still does not have its own 'free' version of the SA900 Trust Return.
The trust I file for has only one entry - taxed interest. As it is less than £1000 it is taxable at the basic rate rather than the trust rate so the amount due equals the amount already deducted at source. (Roundings mean each year the trust is overpaid by a few pence.)
I fail to see why I should pay a commercial supplier anything from £10 upwards for such a simple case so will continue to send a paper version that will inevitably cost HMRC time & money to process manually. Time they did something about it!!!
:j
Incidentally, when I tried to download the HMRC pdf version for 2012 today (11/4/12) from its website hyperlink, all I got was a blank page. Are they trying to annoy us?:mad:0 -
Gilby- If your return is very simple and only has taxed interest then you can ask the Revenue if they will allow you to complete a return every few years - indeed they may suggest this themselves once they see the pattern of income is not changing. They will include a proviso in that you will be expected to tell them if any taxable income arises or any capital gains made and will usually expect a completed return to be filed every three to five years (they will issue one if they need one completed)
If your trust is put on this regime it would be best to check with them when the next one is due (these sporadic returns are scheduled so they will be able to tell you) as, if one is issued but is not received, you will face penalties etc for non-filing.
Hope this helps!
