Disabled people and those over 60 can get discounted travel on National Express coaches...erm...assuming you can actually get yourself on board a coach.
Their website says that you need to show proof when booking and carry the proof with you on the journey. This proof could be:
*Paperwork confirming receipt of disability living allowance or pension eg award letter, payslip, annual review letter
*Disabled bus pass/freedom pass issued by local authority
*Blue badge or orange car badge
*Letter from medical practitioner on his/her or hospital letterhead (not a photocopy) declaring you to be disabled
"The concessionary fare is available on National Express services to destinations within England and Wales, and to Edinburgh or Glasgow from destinations in England and Wales. Concessionary travel is also available on Butlins and summer seasonal express coach services and on Eurolines services 920 and 921 for travel to destinations within mainland Britain." (Website)
You could get up to 50% off.

Ally - I have always booked as a disabled person and have never ever been asked to show proof of my disability. I also never ever book at the coach station either as I would much rather book online. The savings are great and in the past I have had a return ticket to London for £9:D0

Thats interesting to know. Because you do not necessarily have to be in receipt of the dla to have a disabled bus pass, it shows that you dont seem to need to be in receipt of the dla for national express either.
Am I understanding that right???0 -
Shelle - I have no idea about the disabled bus pass but I know that when I order my national express tickets online, I say that I am disabled (I am) and I get discounted tickets, I do not get DLA.0

I always book disabled tickets and although I often take 'proof' usually my LA bus pass and/or my disabled persons rail card, I have never been asked to produce them0
