I really dont know where to post or who to ask so bear with me!
Moved over to liverpool nearly 9yrs ago lived in a housing association 1 bed house thankfully the landlords adapted best they could after I'd had an occupational Health Assessment done....everyone decided the house was not the best for me & along with my GP we started a long drawn out route to plan a way out of here & into something more suitable
Well it worked in August we were offered a 2 bed bungalow & to be honest over the moon meant I could have a bit of independance back...well the fun & games started soon as we moved in wanting things that were broken repairing, the last problem involved the gas central heating a few of the radiators due to prev tennant damage cant be turned down or off! the solution was to fit a room thermostat....well its still not been done & now its colder i'm struggling to switch the heating on/off the xcontroller is soooo tiny & I have poor grib anyhow..again i've reported & someone came out looked at the system & said nothing could be done..so I complained to the housing manager again....
for now? the solution? my OH puts the heat on when she leaves for work & i'm stuck with it on all day, the housing association said a while ago they would consider pulling out the system....didnt happen after I last complained to my housing manager she tells me the problem has been passed back to the engineers for sorting...rang them & they passed back to the housing office..little upset though with the reply today usual manager off spoke to someone else & being a little confused (fibrofog) didnt get a name..she basically said they've fufilled my housing needs & the heating issues are not their probs
Who else can I write/ring any suggestions to what to do now would be brilliant
Thanks for listening
Phil

Try getting your GP to write a letter to them, and if that doesn't get any action consider writing to your MP.
My central heating was condemned in June (I live in LA accommodation), and I was originally told it would be sorted by the end of July. I'm actually still waiting for it to be installed, but expecting them to start next week. I did ask my GP to write to them around September because I was still being fobbed off about a start date. It's a long and complicated story, but it looks like it's now being sorted. But if something happens that stops them getting the job done by the end of next week I will be getting my MP involved this time.s/e0 -
Contact social services for an OT assessment, if you can't operate your heating due to a physical disability (e.g. poor grip) they will be able to contact the housing association for you. Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0

Thanks for the replies girls/guys....been waiting for an OT assessment for a few weeks now (bit of a wait in our area apparently)
i'll chase today & see how much longer & see what they suggestWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
send an email to your local newspaper ( news dask ) letting them know what has been happening and for how long. They will contact them and ask for their opinion. I am sure they will not like any bad publicity.
It is ridiculous all this passing the buck, this job is a 5 minute job and can easily be resolved.
I did this when I had problems with them fitting a new bathroom and kitchen, i contacted the local press, they came out and did the story with pics and my problem was sorted in 2 days.. Power of the Press.
Good luck0 -
Thanks DB9 its a thought i'll try.....just rang the OT's apparently they'll be unable to help as its something they dont deal with...figures!

Did you speak to a OT in person, or did you get a receptionist? I know, from experience, that 'reception' tend not to know what they're talking about (mainly 'cos most of them haven't been in place for long enough to have the experience) so it is worth insisting on speaking to someone qualified.s/e0 -
Oh, and it might be worth checking your tenants' handbook in the repairs section. There are limits on the amount of time certain repairs should take. A not properly functioning central heating system (especially when there are children or disabled people in the property) comes under the heading of an emergency repair and should be sorted out in 24 hours, between the months of October - May.s/e0

Thanks for the replies S/E I did speak to a senior OT (worked in the trust myself for a few years so know what some reception staff are like) in the end all they'll do is a reassessment now BUT i'll be on the waiting list for some considerable time...same old story not enough staff/money/time etc etc
Hmm good tip about the tennants handbook i'll try & dig that out & have a read
Thanks again folks its really helped..We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
I'd get back on the phone to the OT dept, needs to be social work not health. I'm a social services OT and we deal with it in our authority! Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0
