So your saying that i was imagining that you used the word good before you changed it . If only someone had quoted your original post before you amended it.:D

Now I am not using any smilies. I am not a liar. I did not use the word good in my OP, and I did not change it.

So yes, you are imagining it.

It was Billsavings who said, '...if they are so good etc'

I merely replied saying who said they were good?

My OP stands as it was originally written, with spelling corrections.

Please provide a link to your comment ' They can reactive phone lines they just choose not to'.

? That's reality. It is Talk Talk's commercial decision to seek to blacken other companies' names by trying to associate the costs of reactivation with a different party. Every provider in Britain is allowed to arrange to reactivate phone lines.

Your BT line rental will be £10.50/month if you opt for paper-free billing (£1.25/month discount) and pay by Direct Debit (£1.50/month saving).

Please see the HERE link in my signature below too.

the £1.25 for paperless billing isnt a discount - it is in fact added on if you want paper bills.......

this is the same for both BT and talk talk

same as the direct debits.... if you use them there is nothing extra to pay, if you dont ,then your bill is £1.50 higher per month
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

It's semantics really but, unlike paying by DD, BT's T&Cs describe it as a discount:
Paper-free billing discount and Direct Debit payments

You can save money on your line rental by signing up to paper-free billing and agreeing to pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan.

The monthly paper-free discount on line rental charges is £1.25 per month. Paper-free billing means that you only receive your BT bill by email to view online. If you receive your bill by email and by post or post only you will not qualify for the discount. You must also agree to pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and spend at least £10.49 per month on rental charges to receive this discount. The discount is applied before any other discounts are made e.g. special offers, one-off charges such as usage charges, brought forward amounts, payment processing fees. If you change from paper to paper-free billing or from paper-free to paper billing more than twice during any 12-month period, you will not be eligible for the discount. If this happens, you will need to continue with paper-free billing for a continuous period of six months before you receive the discount again. Not all of our services are available for paper-free billing. The paper-free discount is applied via bill credit in the next or subsequent bill following signup. Credits for Pay&Call customers will be applied to your BT Pay&Call Moneybox account.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Ive just discovered the Post Office for rental with no contract. (We wanted to reactivate a line for broadband only in my son flat. Some broadband companies offer deals where you rent the line from them...but BT charge a penalty to get out of their rental contract and swap providers.)

So, instead of renting from BT and being tied into a contract, we are reactivating the line and renting through the Post Office with no contract, then taking the Talk Talk option at £13.95 per month (for three months, then it goes up to £16.95.) This is the TOTAL cost we pay, it includes line rental. Obviously phone call costs would be on top of this, but my son uses his mobile and will not actually have a phone plugged in to the line.

Beware...BT dont like it if you swap line rental to someone like Talk Talk...they will make it difficult for you apparently, in way of penalty costs.

The Post Office are £10.95 for the line rental with NO contract, and lots of extras. Have a look at these websites

I'm confused. If your paying the Post Office £10.95 and Talk Talk £13.95/16.95 (later) a month, that's £24.90/27.90 a month and £74.70/83.70 a quarter.

The OP was upset he was paying £42 a quarter!

    I'm obviously missing something!

    You missed something.

The OP was paying £42 just for his phone bill. The BB was extra.

Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with tranfering from BT to Sky Talk as they have a 6 month half price line rental deal and are cheaper anyway. Any aggro, delays, breaks in service?

    Thanks.

Yup, you are! I did say above that it was 13.95 /16.95 (later) per month TOTAL, ie, that includes the line rental, payable to Talk Talk. Post Office only activate the line, then you transfer rental to Talk Talk. So, you pay no more than 16.95 per month in total at any time.

Thanks for mentioning that. I've just spent ages trying to figure out why my bill said £11.75 yet the BT website quotes £10.50. It's beyond me why it's not actually stated on the bill itself!
