Closing a CC but purchase not gone on yet

I would like to pay off my balance on my Egg card and close the account.
Only problem is I have been waiting for a purchase to go on the card but its been a few weeks and still no sign of it.

Is it possible to close the account and get billed for it later or will I just have to sit tight and wait until it does hit the account?

If you are desparate to close it, ring them, pay it over the phone and close the account at the same time. If not, just wait for it to come through the post.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Yes you can "close" the account now. All this does is stop any new transactions from being authorised. Any pre-authorised transactions will just be billed as usual.

Yes - just like you do at the moment.
  • Egg don't send out statements do they - its an Internet bank?
They normally send an e -mail to you to advise that latest statement is available online - it is up to you to pay this off if you don't rely on a direct debit to clear the balance.
