Help computer making funny whirring noise.

Help my computer is acting like it is working really hard. When I go to task manager I have 63 processes running and under cpu one of the biggest is TeaTimer.exe 50.

The other one is system idle process which is at 99.

What is wrong?

System idle means it doing nothing, so 99% is great
Tea Timer is SPYBOTS resident shield
You can turn it off through SPYBOT if you so desire
(Though it is protecting you)
(Impossible to have one at 99 and one at 50 though, its in PERCENTAGES)

What firewall and anti virus do you use?

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes you are right my system idle did go down to 40 something. I use AVG version 8 and I think windows own firewall. I have just run malwarebytes and it said I had no infections.

I would like to make the suggestion that you back up any important stuff, as any noise a pc makes out of the ordinary is never a good thing (having had one hard drive die the past week, and the other is now making similar noises) :eek:

It is either the cpu fan or prehaps it is a DVD/CD drive?
Should be easy relaively to have a look at the fans

It could just be that the inside has a build up of dust and the fans are working hard. Is it a laptop or a desktop?
