Refund e-On
I have requested a refund from E-On for £150 my account is in credit by £230 they have said that they are going to keep it to cover my winter usage but I hopefully wont be using that much over the winter as I am in the process of having a wood burner fitted so how do I go about making them refund me. I am paying them by dd each month for duel fuel.
Thanks

You've agreed to pay monthly by DD - this means you should have an accumulated credit at this time of the year to pay for anticipated heavier winter usage.
If you want your money back and the supplier doesn't wish to give it, then talk to them about alternative poayment methods e.g. on receipt of bill.
Or just change supplier.
Both should result in you getting back the full £230 credit."Now to trolling as a concept. .... How much was your last bill for [consumption charges]? How much are your monthly payments? If they estimate that you will not be in credit after the next bill, you may have problems getting the money back. Rather than phone, for this sort of problem, you should write and ask for the money back or a fully worked explanation of why not.I have requested a refund from E-On for £150 my account is in credit by £230 they have said that they are going to keep it to cover my winter usage but I hopefully wont be using that much over the winter as I am in the process of having a wood burner fitted so how do I go about making them refund me. These problems are exacerbated by the utilities not publishing the method of calculating DD payments or the criteria for refunds. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

My last bill was for £147, I pay £79 per month so £90, over my winter bill never comes to £237 so even after the next bill I will be in credit.0

Then, despite what Premier says, I think you are due a refund. By the time of your next bill, you will have a credit of £230 + £237 = £467 - which looks good against a bill of £200 for a credit of £200 at least. Write, complaining about the phone operative and ask for a justification with all workings if they do not agree! My last bill was for £147, I pay £79 per month so £90, over my winter bill never comes to £237 so even after the next bill I will be in credit. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union

You just need to ring them up with an up to date meter reading. Give them your reading, and ask for the exact balance on your account. You can then ask for any or all of your credit back.
The only downside is that obviously this is then taking up the credit that would be used to cover your "estimated" winter consumption. With you now having alternative heating methods it may not be the best payment plan for you to be on. You should probably pay the bills on reciept for the next few quarters so that both you and E.On can see what a differnce your new heating methods have made, and then maybe set up a more reasonable direct debit in the new year.Sunny in Southampton.0 -
Holley, you're not alone. e-on have accumulated just under £500 from our monthly £125 direct debit over the last few months. I gave them a meter reading but they want to wait until after the november bill is due. Fair enough I suppose. I think it's due on the 20th. After that I'll be going all out for a refund. I'm on the online saver that requires a direct debit so I'd lose the discount if I changed. The monthly direct debit is too much though and I'll have to change to another tarrif at this rate. Try and hang in there until the Nov bill and then recalculate.0

Be aware, any refund with Eon generates an automated review of your monthly DD a couple of days later.0
