How about a website of our own? We could PM people the name of it so people reading this need not find out? I can easily set up a new website to do this on. Let me know what you think.

The problem with facebook is some people who are at work will not be able to access the site as it will be blocked by there employer.

That sounds like a possible solution. We could still only give that info on the new site to people we know are regulars to keep out the Boots hq spies. But this thread would still be going, too, and people could share info here and eventually newbies would become long-timers and get the "underground site" eventually .... I don't know. I know that would end up keeping out some people who just like to read and we don't know them as regulars. But at the same time, if we keep tipping off Boots to all the glitches, it really won't matter if you can read about them here because they will get busted quickly (and possibly get a few Bootsers busted at the tills because Boots will be looking for certain things!).

Also (knew there was something else I wanted to say!), the OOTW from tomorrow is definitely the hairdryer that someone mentioned a few days ago:

    http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=121654&callingViewName=&categoryId=4663&langId=-1&catalogId=11051

It's already half price, so would be a good buy if you were planning on buying it anyway :)

On .com the hairdryer was £49.99 now £39.99

so if it is the ootw do you think it will be £25 or £20 half the original or half the latest price?

Sorry if i'm being abit thick

  • I have had a few good bargains courtesy of this forem thanks everyone. But I think i would spend a lot less money if I never went into Boots at all.
As for the magic writing it is visible to me. So it is to anyone reading I should think.
If the glitches went underground I wouldn't bother myself, can't be bothered with Facebook.

Not sure if i said once before, but apparently they are happy to leave all 'glitches' like:

2 deals running at the same time, ie: 3 for 2 and bogof
or extra points on acm, and in mag when there is also an offer in store etc

    But not:
Recent use of till spit + glossy
    £0.00 gwps
Using vouchers in a combination that = money off your shopping.

So it is only the 'silly' glitches that they will stop immediately, not the ones where you are basically making the most out of combining every deal and voucher you can to get a super bargain with lots of points etc

I'm with you on this. I think Mr B is cutting his nose off to spite his face if he stops glitches :)

and has anyone tried the No7 glycolic peel set , £18 , I would like to know if it's any good as I am really tempted ...
Another product that has had a large price increase in the last 6 months!! It was £16 when I bought it earlier this year.

I do like it, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again. I definitely wouldn't spend £18 on it, but at £8 I'd be undecided.

Personally don't see the point in going "underground". I love the MSE site, and the fact that this thread is accessible to everyone whether they are a seasoned poster or not. Yes the flip side of that is that Mr B can read the thread but so what? There has been talk of this for months and look what good bargains and glitches everyone has still managed to get in that time. It was inevitable that Mr B was going to sort out the till spit issue IMO- if two vouchers were being used and only £5 of that shop was actually no7 or R&M then of course it would be looked into as that was not what the vouchers were intended to be spent on. But peeps got a really good run at that glitch, as we usually do with any glitch but by there very definition they come to an end. I will continue to post here in grabbit and i hope others will too. If some peeps do decide to go elsewhere, i hope they will still post on here too.

I'm tending to agree claire, fwiw. I'm not prepared to go 'underground' either. I've seen glitches go underground before, and all that happened was the glitch was worked out in minutes and PM'd to as many people as possible on here  and subsequently posted on here, so the need for any 'secrecy' was totally unnecessary imho, and the 'newbies' were excluded anyway. As were the lurkers.

People just need to be aware that Boots Big Brothers are watching, and not to post too many details, especially personal ones, and avoid the 'dodgy' methods that can be used. A subtle hint usually works and any 'newbie' can always be PM'd if they get stuck and ask for help. But without this thread, how can anyone asked how 'legal' transactions can be performed, like where ACM points work with vouchers? Or even how to use points and vouchers and ACM's?

Let's face it, most of the questions recently have been simple questions (to us at least) like "What's a pinky"?

And if a glitch is missed because of Boots 'spies' well so what? It's hardly a life and death issue, is it? ;) I see glitches as a bonus, not a right. :) (Although I do mutter a few choice words when I've missed one :D)
Off to sign a few papers. I officially 'retire' today! :T Laters x

    I get the white writing now!:o :D

I wish I did  I'd say it's too early in the day but it's lunch time! And I've obviously missed why everyone is talking about going underground.

Note to self to take more notice in future
