Xbox on wireless - how?

Ok - here's the deal

Have broadband supplied by a BT Voyager jobby

Thats upstairs and Xbox is downstairs

I also have an Apple Airport Express

Is there a way to plug the xbox 360 into the airport to get an internet connection on it - or do i have to get the £60 xbox wifi adaptor thingy

You need to have wireless at both ends so to speak. You need to connect the airport express to your internet connection upstairs then get a device that will act as a wireless bridge for your xbox to plug into.

A lot of the wireless access points now provide this feature as standard, or you could go for one of the gaming ones but they tend to be more expensive just because the people buying them do not to know what it is they need.

In case I have read this email wrong and you already do have wireless and your airport is spare then the answer to your question would depend on the model, the airport express that I have found on the internet is a new quite trendy looking thing, with everything sort of built into the plug, is this what you have? It will do the job.

I have set up a few wireless networks using apple gear for different people and I am nearly sure that one of them had an airport express, a round one, but it had quite basic functions, whereas the airport extreme had all the extras. It's quite possible I am just confused.

Either way, I hope this helps a bit

  • yes - its the white apple thing

not sure i can use it as a bridge though because my broadband is sent wirelessly roundn the house with the bt voyager

think you have to use an apple base station to allow the express to extend it as a bridge

but will give it a try
