Cat missing - and it's bonfire night tomorrow

I haven't seen my cat since 5.30pm last night, which I know isn't very long, but she's always in for 8pm at the latest, and doesn't go very far at all, literally next door, next door but one and down the tenfoot.

I spent all night shouting of her, and watching for the sensor light outside to come on from my bedroom. I've searched the garage and shed because she has got stuck in there before but nothing.

This is made 10x worse because it's bonfire night tomorrow. She's only a young cat (maybe about one and a half) and is really, really nervous. We live really close to a school were they'll more than likely be chavs setting off fireworks over the next few nights and I know she goes on the playground there.

I'm going to ring RSPCA up at lunch time, but think it's a bit too soon for them to have heard anything. Was going to make a few little flyers and post them round the houses nearby but is it too soon for that? My boyfriends coming soon so we can go looking for her.

I'm really upset. We've had two cats run over since moving into this house 8 years ago and I'm worried that this may have happened to her too, although we've had a look down the road and haven't seen her. I've been up all night, I can't eat, I just want to know she's okay :(:(

    How worrying for you :(

Definitely do flyers and phone the RSPCA. It may be too soon, but the only thing you lose by trying is the cost of the call! Also maybe call local vets, if anyone finds an injured cat they would surely take it to the vet - I certainly would.

    Is she chipped?

it's never too soon for flyers. also, put one of your jupmers (unwashed) in the back garden, along with some of her bedding, she may pick up the smell and it may help guide her home. place food outside too.

ask your neighbours to check their sheds and garages in case she is locked in anywhere too. keep calling for her as well.

keeping my fingers crossed that she will be home very soon.
  • Hi

I would get out the yellow pages, and ring round all the local vets and rescues, also RSPCA and Cats Protection, and possibly also the dog warden (sounds odd but I have heard of cats being taken there before). Does your local freecycle group have a cafe board? If so post on there as well. I'd also do some flyers in the local shops and knock on doors/post flyers in the area.

I think like you say its best to try and find her today before fireworks etc start going off - the vets and rescues etc will understand - they won't think it's too soon to ring at this time of year.

Best of luck - she's probably either just trapped in a shed somewhere or sat on an old ladys knee being fed tuna  :)

    xx
I can't think of anything interesting to write here.........

    http://www.catchat.org/lost.html
also make loads of posters, keep calling her, try calling her very late at night when you can hear her and she can hear you. Don't give up and i'm sure she'll be home soon, trying to tell you about the adventure she's been on

Thanks everyone, still no sign. My dad said he hasn't seen nextdoors cat either and he usually see's that every morning on his way out to work, have tried knocking on their door but can't be in.

Have printed off loads of flyers, going out in a minute to post them.

Our drive is next to a tenfoot where she goes, which has just been fenced off, and even after explaining the situation nobody will let us borrow the key to go look down there

Been trying to get in touch with Cat Protection and RSPCA, cat protection is ringing and then the answer machine is full so can't leave a message, RSPCA is just ringing with no answer - very useful!

Sorry to hear she's still missing, she's probably off having an adventure (and will come home demanding food as if it's your fault she's missed breakfast), or she's curled up somewhere she shouldn't be (possibly with next doors cat).

If as you say she's naturally nervous if she's still out tomorrow she'll probably just find somewhere dark to curl up until all the noise goes away.

Try not to worry too much though, hope she turns up soon.

Had a phone call from somebody who got a flyer saying there brother saw a tabby cat get run over opposite our house last night and the woman opposite had took it in.

Been accross there and she's pretty sure it was ours but the council collected it this morning.

Got in touch with council who could take up to ten working days to ring back so we can go see if it's her which is killing me! The thought of waiting all that time to find out if shes dead or not.

I can't bare not knowing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but it's looking likely she's been run over.

She slept in here, my bedroom, all her stuff is everywhere. I feel sick.

Oh no!!!! I'm really, really sorry and am sending big hugs, have been reading your thread all day in the hope she'd turn up. Do you have any idea why it could take the council so long to contact you? Seems very strange.
