Dyson Accessories

Hi

Is it possible to get a part for the DCo5 Dyson (cylindrical type) - the part i am after is the grey "joining/clicking" part that joins the long metal hoover stick to the pipe - ours has cracked and the part comes off but not sure where i would be able to buy it separately?

I have tried superglue, but it just comes apart again.

Thanks

Heres DYson's page on spares and repairs:

There doesn't appear to be the small plasticky part that comes off the extension pipe, to be sold separately - its a bit much to pay £30 for the whole pipe when all i really want is the bit that goes onto the end of it

Is there a customer services phone number on the site? You could try ringing them with your dilemma, they might even send it for free.

Sometimes these "little" bits dont come on their own, ie they make you buy the whole lot! Worth ringing and finding out. WHen I had a Dyson, I needed something (cant recall now what exactly) but needed the whole lot

  • Thanks - will give them a ring tomorrow

    don't use the expensive 0870 number ... try 01666 827272 or 827200

have the serial number ready for them .. normally on underside of machine i think.

if it's not that old you might find them replacing the part free.... has happened to me couple of times when they've said "that shouldn't have happened" .
  • just to let you know - i did phone dyson, but they said i had to buy the whole part, rather than a separate "collar piece" that comes off. The price was £30ish and i think thats a bit much for a plastic collar - and i would have no use for the extension pipe, because i would need another collar to attach the 2 pipes - dont think i need to attach 2 pipes anyway.

Also phoned a local spare parts place that deals with cookers, vacums etc, and they quoted £20 for a piece from an old dc04 version they had. As long as the part fitted.

Might check with a few other places but i was expecting it to cost a tenner or max £15, or maybe i was being unrealistic.

Might be worth your while looking on Ebay as a lot of dyson spares get listed there at decent prices.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

yes i just looked and there is the part i am after and am sure it will end up costing less than from dyson or what i have been quoted. Just have to wait a few days as it's in auction and not "buy it now"
