There is a bad apple in every company .
Most tell the truth.
You always hear about the bad ones but never about the good ones.
"We are a British company, all the others including (*insert your supplier here*) are owned by foreign companies
Only one company is not owned by foreign parent company.
But that has been said by several salesman from different companies (all owned by foreign parent companies)
Yes you should, but as Cardew pointed out, people dont read stuff and I have also seen Door knockers covering most of the page so you couldnt read it.Sign here and we will send you an information pack" (actually a welcome pack as you just signed the application)
You should always read anything before you sign anything and most have CONTRACT on it some companys now do a call validation at pos and this prevents this sort of thing. This tariff is only available if you sign up today" (Also the "show only offer" at the ideal home show)
This could be true as we all seen with the speedy withdrawal of the fixed price tarrifs.
True but not in any of the cases I've heard of, Npower even tried telling a friend of mine that their Juice tariff was a show only offer at the ideal home show (and Juice is still available now)
But what if they tell you there is no cancelation fee on a tariff you KNOW has a cancelation fee? (This has happened to me)There is no cancelation fee on this tariff"
There might not be on that tarrif we should all should read the small print."We guarantee to be cheaper than...."
Most companys are cheaper but it depends on what we use.
So how can the guarantee it?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Ricky - hate to burst your bubble but 2 of the big 6 are British owned & listed - Scottish & Southern Energy (aka Socottish Hydro, Southern, Swalec & Atlantic) & British Gas (aka Scottish Gas, parent company Centrica).
Teh other 4 are E.on (German Parent E.on), nPower (German parent RWE), EDF Energy (French Parent EDF) & Scottish Power (Spanish Parent Ibedrola)
Of the smaller ones I'm not sure, but I'm sure it's relativley easy to find out about Ebico, Utilities Warehouse, Countrywide Farmers, Ecotricity, Good Energy (if these lasty few are stil about, not heard anything for a while) etc.0 -
Utilita is also UK owned
At the end of the day who really cares? Racists?
If people are so concerned about using UK owned companies you wouldnt go in a lot of high street shops. It certainly shouldnt be used as a sales pitch.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

most door-steppers do tell outright lies.
I will totaly disagree with this most door-steppers do tell the truth.
But i do agree that there is a bad apple in every company.
Most Scottish Power sales people are self employed and are on commision only.
You could argue not having a salary could make them a little more eager to do what it takes to seal a deal, of course.0 -

Indeed, and would only drive a Morgan or use a Black cab taxi.0 -

I just watched it earlier, then saw this thread. Unbelievable tactics used by those sales people. I feel sorry for elderly and other vulnerable groups having these shysters knocking on their front doors.0
