Bradford and Bingley reduce the interest rate on savings

As of yesterday they have applied the full half percent drop in interest.Pity,it was a leading rate,but thankfully i managed to tie most of what i had up in the AA account before it was withdrawn.Goodness knows what will happen after Thursday.
How do they think big reductions are going to help those living off their interest at the moment in this present climate.For example my mum who is a pensioner and is now having her bit of interest paid into the bank to pay bills.
