Packaging Delicate China

Can anyone recommend the best way to package up delicate china to post? I'm planning on selling some Crown Derby I have on ebay but I don't have a clue where to start with the packaging. I know bubble wrap and boxes should definately be involved! Can anyone suggest the best packaging and possible where to buy the cheapest boxes for the job?

carrier bags inbetween and inside items and newspaper, lots of it.

That's the way I usually send things. They never seem to get damaged. I may just have been lucky...
:D I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning, just not how it applies to me:D
  • A trip to your local supermarket could provide you with suitable boxes and they will be free as well, not sure how big your parcel will be but wine boxes may be ideal. Check out the fruit and veg aisle for bubble wrap-usually found by the bananas-just make sure you dont take home any spiders though!!

Not sure how you intend to post standard parcels do not cover ceramics, but I believe special delivery does, not 100% certain but think 1st and 2nd class will as well, although there is no confirmation of this on the RM website

Some guidleines for packing fragile item can be found on the RM website

Make sure fragile items don’t touch either each other, or the side of the package. Fill out the package with cushioning material like bubble-wrap or polystyrene chips

Thank you both for your replies! I'll be sending them special delivery as (hopefully) they'll be nice and expensive! It was a good little find whilst looking through some old boxes of inherited bits and bobs. Too 'dated' for me but hopefully someone will fancy them! (Please!!)

if you don't have any poly peanuts you can just chop up any polystyrene you have from buying other goods and it does the same job. Lighter than newspaper or shredded paper and less likely to 'settle' and give space for the china to jiggle about and get damaged.

You need to pack very defensively. Good advice is that when it is packed you should be happy to drop it three or four feet onto a concrete floor. If you are worried about doing this it needs more packaging!
