bere with me please
Im after an mp3 or media player to have plugged in 99% time in the lounge connected to tv or hi fi. Everyones iPod mad is this for a particular reason?
I've seen a 60Gb media player for about £180
http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/features/nhj/
will the sound quality of this be the same as an ipod when hooked up to the tv/a hi fi? I take it they only feed the information to the amp/tv which in turn give it its volume etc?
Just looks a lot more of kit for not much more cash, and as it'l lbe on the coffee table all the time im not too bothered about its size
hope that made sense

Its more to do with the bit rate that the files are burned as i.e 128kbps = Poor
352kbps = good... I suppose its a Creative Zen for me :beer:0 -
cheers intel, and the more bits its burnt at the more memory it takes up right? sorry im very new to this
so a 60Gb would hold loads even at highest quality so it wouldnt matter too much
and it'd get the clout from the speaker source right?0 -
Yeah the better quality the bigger the file size :beer: So less tracks.0

MP3 is compressed less than MP4, (iPods use MP4 I believe) and the more it is compressed, the more quality it loses. Personally, I would go for a standard MP3 player rather than an iPod, especially if it is going to stay in your house most of the time.
iPods are more for image than listening to good music on, and because it is staying in your lounge, it would be better to purchase a normal MP3 player.
eBuyer have some good deals. Try there for MP3 players.
I hope this helps, tigermatt
