Confusion over electricity supplier

Changed from npower to eon in Sept. for gas and electric. However, npower have just sent me another bill for electricity ,and I didn't notice before but they took out two direct debits since I changed. Phoned them 4 times today. They insisted that they still supplied my electric. Eon gave me the number of the data base who said that it was eon who has supplied my electric since Sept. Got back to npower and told them this. They then said I had to get the money back by phoning bank to get an indemnity claim. Bank refused to do this. Got back to npower who told me to phone back tomorow. Refused to do so and now they say they are trying to refund my direct debits. It was a lot of hassle. Npower says eon did not tell them I had changed suppliers, but eon insists they did. I hope it will all be sorted. It's put me off changing suppliers for good.

I'd check all the deatils on both bills. Does it show the same meter number and meter point access number (a long number that starts between 11 and 25 or is it 26)? Eon can't not tell Npower about the move (a horrible double-negative, sorry), it's all automated. It is likely that Npowers supply isn't showing exactly the same details (or their system is broken).0

Thanks. N-power seem to have a totally different meter no. on the bill than the one that's on my meter. I'll ring them again tomorrow.0

Sounds like e-on have taken over the wrong supply (mpan) possibly a neighbours.0

I have an account with ecoes (electricity central online enquiry service) if you give me your meter serial number of the front of your meter il let you know who your actual supplier is, and the date of the change.Sunny in Southampton.0

Contact your bank again. The paying bank must refund any disputed Direct Debit under the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thank you, but have already checked this with National Data Base and they told me I have been supplied by eon since 8th September.littletommytucker wrote: »I have an account with ecoes (electricity central online enquiry service) if you give me your meter serial number of the front of your meter il let you know who your actual supplier is, and the date of the change.0 -
For the record your new supplier tells the registration service (MPAS) that they want to take you on as a customer and MPAS advise your old supplier of this. This process rarely if ever fails, it is more like the old supplier failed to process this notification. If ECOES lists the correct supplier and they get their data from the various MPASs then its 99.9% likely its the old suppliers fault.verynewmoneysaver wrote: »Changed from npower to eon in Sept. for gas and electric.
