Database required for Mac

I used to have a PC and used ACT by Sage which was a great database but unfortunately I can't get a compatible version for my new Mac (unless anyone knows of any upgrades etc)

So i need a database which can hold my customer details - don't need anything amazingly high tech just as long as I can do simple reports etc

Anyone know of any Mac compatible databases?

FileMaker Pro is the best relational database around for the Mac. We use this to create anything from basic systems to full blown multi-site management information systems for a variety of clients, and for our cross platform systems (it's Mac and PC compatible). It has a huge development community and comes with a lot of templates for first time users.

It's simple for new users, but power users and developers can script it to do almost anything.

There is a simpler version called Bento too, see the Filemaker website for more details.

I looked at a few contact management databases on the Mac recently and ended up going with Daylite. It's not cheap, but it is quite similar to Act which I've also used previously. With that and Billings, by the same developers, that's what I use as the basis for running my business and am very happy with them.

OpenOffice includes a simple database package similar to Microsoft Access and is free. It would certainly do for a basic customer details database. It's available for MacOS X.
