driving from Bournemouth - Plymouth

In a couple of weeks my husband and I are driving from Bournemouth to Plymouth. It's not a long drive, but we have all day to do it (get into bournemouth airport first thing in the morning but not expected at our friends house in Plymouth until tea time). Can anyone recommend things/places worth stopping at along the way, a nice coastal route etc etc?

Lyme regis and west bay . google them. lyme is about 1hr 20min from hurn airport and west bay is just over an hour .0
