Tesco Finance inet savings

A month ago my wife applied for an internet account with Tesco offering 6.5% but with a bonus of 1.5% (but variable main rate of 5% - so they could reduce this whenever they wish) Anyway after a week we got some forms in the post so we sent off a cheque. After 3 weeks we got another letter asking for an inland revenue form as ID. There was no request for ID on the welcome pack. Well my wife has never worked in 30yrs so I returned the form outlining this and the fact that she has a passport and had lived at this address for 34 years. Still no reply after 10 more days. So I rang Tesco Finance to be told "Oh this takes time we do stringent tests for ID. You might get a letter asking for other ID soon". Well I told them not to bother Id go elsewhere. Not impressed one bit.
