indemnity claim

my telephone provider charged me a bill of £69.83 11 days before they said they would on the phone.. i filed an indeminty claim with the bank and got the money refunded.

I called my telephone provider a couple of days later, thinking I would need to pay th e£69.83 that was taken from them but they told me there was no bill to be paid.

I'm confused, have I got the bill for free? or will it be added on to my next bill? Do i have to pay the bank back?

thanks, advice would be appreciated

If your Bank correctly operated the DD Guarantee - then they would have refunded the money directly to your account. They then need to make an indemnity claim to the telephone provider's Bank. And they, in turn, seek authorisation of the refund from one of the indemnifiers they have contact with within the telephone company.

All of that takes several days. If you contacted the telephone people 'a couple of days later' ...... it's quite likely the refund hadn't been signalled back to them at that point.

I would contact them again. If you haven't clarified why you've countermanded payment .... they may just withdraw the service. Simply invoking the Guarantee without involving any sort of service provider, in the loop, can rebound on you.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
