getting a new tv and i have looked around and i think it's between the two noted. both appear to be fairly similar- most importantly both give 1920 x 1080i resolution.
only major difference i can see it the samsung has 5000:1 better contrast, but have read that manufacturers lie about contrast.
has anyone got any idea?
i have sky so freeview isn't an issue only really going to be used for playing xbox 360 on

Its almost impossible to tell the difference between 720P and 1080P on a 32" screen, so I certainly wouldnt dwell on that
Personally id go for the Panasonic, it has less connections than the Samsung, but will almost certainly have a better picture:idea:0 -
I've always preferred Panasonic quality to Samsung personally, but I doubt you could go wrong with either of these two.0

if i'm going to get HD then may as well go for full HD if it's in my price bracket.
you mention panasonic will almost certainly have a better picture quality...but it has less contrast ratio than samsung so how so?0 -

Dont get caught up with specs
Its more to do with image 'quality'. Movement and suchlike. Panasonics are better than Samsung (price for price) for picture quality.
If 'contrast ratio' was the be all and end all then 'sharp' and 'LG' tvs would be top of the tree, but they arent (Not by a LONG way)
Still, dont get me wrong. The Samsung will be good too, just not as good as the Pan'
HOWEVER, 650 quid is a lot of money for a 32", you can get a good 37" for the same price!:idea:0 -
i got the 40" version of that samsung model 2 weeks ago, can't say enough good things about it. picture quality is great even on normal viewing i:e sky.
x box 360 looks stunning in 1080p, and the small amounts of high def i have seen on it were once again stunning. but each to his or her own when choosing, I can only speak from my experiance. the 40" model cost £617 from currys, they price matched richer sounds. full 1080p etc 4 hdmi inputs, usb input fully tooled up0 -
Hi girish
I was in the same boat so to speak my computer screen was going and my son was playing his xbox on a very small tv so looked at getting a bigger screen/tv to cover them both,
was in costco only a few months ago and they had on offer a ViewSonic ( I thought it was a tv at first because of the size ) anyway brought it its a 28in flat screen a bit big for my use on the computer but used to it now much better , but for the xbox my son says its the bees knees just great check them out .

Why dont you pop down to a comet or currys and see the tvs in the store0
-
of course i am going to pop into the shops but i like to come prepared.
my gut instinct thinks it will be the panasonic but of course need to see it before hand. i think around the £550 is fine and a relative gets a discount in john lewis and they sell the panny there so I'd get around £100 off rrp.
dobiesmon thanks for tip but it doesn't have the full hd resolution i want.
32 inch fits my room perfectrly hence thats the only screen size am looking for. we have 42 inch in main living room which 2bh now looks small lol, but for me 32 inch is plenty as it's slightly bigger than current one.0 -

Theyre never set up correctly. Contrast in particular is turned up WAY too high to judge differences. If the tvs arnt calibrated correctly (They never are), then they cant be compared properly.
Look for professional reviews, NOT advice from stores:idea:0 -
went to a friends house and tested my 360 on his Samaung LE32M87BD and it looked amazing.
Checked the specs and they are not as high as the Panasonic one in contract and resolution, I don't think I'm gonna be able to test 360 on panasonic but saw the tele in john lewis and it looked amazing the picture quality. i just hope i dont make the wrong decision....because 360 looked perfect on my friend's samsung (below)
