How come? The prevalence is generally taken at 1:12000 (so Google tells me), so your knowing 3 people in that category is not down to chance. On a random basis, assuming you know say 1000 people, the chance of your knowing 3 or more M to F transgenders is around 1 in 100,000.

On the other hand, if you know one, that person might know others.

One if the sister of a friend of mine. Another is a friend of the first. The third is a former client of OH's who we've seen socially a few times. So, two by chance, the other not.

Whatever rents have dropped - I for one would hate to be living in someone elses property - Id feel like a guest all the time - just my personal feelings. I appreciate that there are people who cannot move into their own places - and as I say its just my feeling - before a herd of renters jump on me :)

I'm not going to jump on you, but I honestly don't feel that we are guests. It's our home, and doesn't bother me at all.

We are lucky to have stability and a nice LL, but that is my feeling.

Sorry to be OT (well I'll pretend to be anyway) but I've never heard of F to M transgendered "men". Guess the necessary brain enhancements are beyond current neuro-science?;) ;)

I was making it absolutely clear (-:

  • The problem with renting is when your landlord does something wrong, not you.
Me and my daughter have lived in this property for 8 years, but now are facing being homeless (council have rated us as being statutory homeless since july, because it could happen any day), because the landlord is having the house re-possessed by the bank. Even though I have always paid rent etc. on time he just makes excuses to us as to why he is behind with the mortgage and says it has nothing to do with us anyway.
Am sure I'm not the only one in this position.

I could, but seeing as I expect houses in my target areas and on my target list to be £150,000 to £300,000 cheaper in 3 to 5 years time, your logic of buy now at any price because "you can't put a price on owning your own property.." ---> well actually you can, and I have.

Crikey! I wish we had rental income of £835 per month!! I'd be laughing all the way to our mortgage lender!!

Just where do these figures come from??? On average, the rental price in NW (Lancashire, not city centre) is £500-£600 per month, if you are lucky, sometimes as low as £395/month.
  • We pay £1,200 a month, for a 3 bed flat, and that's low for this neck of the woods.

Wow! I don't know that neck of the woods, but it is a lot of money, but there again, salaries are a lot higher there than up north. Just for the record, I now live in Spain and 2 years ago we were paying 300€ per month rent (which equated to £202 per month at the time with the exchange rate) for a 'cave house' (plus bills) , but now would be £253.00 thereabouts, but still is cheaper than UK. We now own our property here, mortgage free, but still own a property in the UK. However, we are feeling the credit crunch here too!!
  • I have looked at rental prices in Reading - our nearest big town - rents don't seem to have changed much.

    £250 - £500 for room share
    £500 - £2.5k 1 bed
    £495 - £3.3k 2 bed
    £595 - £3.3k 3 bed

what I found quite interesting is that the lowest price in the 2 bed and 3 bed prices, and they are very low for Reading, are by the same agent and can you believe this - they are offers in excess of! They have a few properties on Rightmove all offers in excess of - their own website is the same.

They are quite new -last few years - the other agents are long established.

It would be interesting to know what they eventually rent for - because before they started doing this, their properties were not cheap.

WC1 - central London. Salaries aren't that much higher, but rent is (-:
