Tesco Website Offer Glitch - VENT

We had a leaflet delivered through our door last week advertising the latest offers from Tesco. One of the offers was for a BMX bike at half price (this one: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-9181.aspx) - perfect I thought for my son as a cheap "extra" xmas present. The leaflet clearly stated that the offers could be ordered online or from my local store.
When I went to the website the bike was still full price at £79.99, and they were in stock. Thinking it was just a glitch with their site I went to my local store to order it. However they told me that they also couldn't order it at the reduced price because of the website glitch. None of my local stores at the time had any in store (the helpful staff in store spent at good 20mins ringing around for me). So they advised me to contact Tesco Direct via email, which I did on Friday.
Today I got a reply admitting that there was a problem with the price of the bike on the website, but stated that they had now rectified it. However, the bikes were now out of stock!
Call be paranoid but it seems a little suspicious and vastly unfair to advertise an offer that is unavailable for whatever reason only for it to be out of stock when the problems are rectified. No doubt Tesco aren't the first and won't be the last to do this, it just makes me angry that because of their seeming incompetence I have missed out on bringing a big smile to my sons face come xmas morning
I have replied to Tesco's email stating how unhappy I am about the situation but I doubt anything will come of it....

I get what your saying, but this is a brilliant price for this bike, so I'm sure people have been snapping then up, hence now being out of stock. The only thing you can do is to click the 'email me when back in stock' button and hope for the best.0

I find that if something is posted up on the various bargain and cashback forums about a Tesco product then they run out of stock extremely quickly. The man without a signature.0
