thanks for the tips, we have been leaving the carrots in their plastic bags and the broccolli in it's wrapping, it would appear that this isn't a good idea, and i shall unwrap and put in the fridge. The potatoes we get are from a farmer and they come in 4 stone bags and there is rarely a bad one among them, and a bag can last for weeks and weeks?.
Many thanks for your suggestions..Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -
Obviously dont buy too many at once and keep them in the freezer. I also do this with bread as it keeps fresh much longer.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I buy potatoes by the sack load too, but i put mine in a cold dark place. I also like to keep the top open so that the air can circulate round the top. I also cut a few air holes in the bottem so that the air can circulate round the bottem half too. However, if you cant put them in a dark enough place dont leave the top open because they will sprout.
All my other veggies i keep in the freezer (all except a huge net of onions i bought today for £2). I think they will have to go under the stairs with the potatoes. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi
I buy fruit and veg from my farmers market which is held fortnightly, so I do buy more than I would use in 1 week. We have had no problems with keeping them out in the garage, as my fridge gets filled up quickly. If you do not have a garage, what about a shed etc ?
