Help! New shower needed

Hi we need to get a new power shower to replace our existing one which is leaking. It was in the bathroom before we bought the house, so appears to have been in situ some time. Can anyone recommend a reliable, well-made and not-too-noisy replacement? We've an Aqua Lisa at the moment ...
Also do we have to get a power shower - presumably it depends on the water pressure? The water tank is on the floor above, in the loft.
Cheers for any recommendations or advice

Mira make the best electric showers then probably Triton. If you have a power shower fitted then I would go for a Mira power shower to replace.
It is illegal and dangerous to fit a power shower to the mains supply. High powered electric showers need a suitable MCB and heavy duty electric cable - 10mm0 -
Is it an electric or thermostatic shower you need to replace?
If its a thermostatic one check out Ebay for GROHE 1000 model.
Do you have an existing pump?0 -

so what do you wire it to then if it isnt the mains, why would i need to google it and why would i want to ask a plumber about electrics.Oh I love this site, so many ignorant people on here lol!!! Google it moron or ask a plumber or have a look at shower specs. It is actually illegal to fit an electric power shower to the mains supply - idiot
I think you are getting a little confused with all the terminology.
You really do need to pick a subject learn it and stick to it,you really are starting to look silly.
why are you up so late are you a smack head who has been out on the rob.0 -
Thanks guys -- the shower is electric with a twin bar Stuart pump. The pump works fine, it's the on off dial of the shower which leaks behind into the wall. Sorry to make such a meal of this and thanks for all your advice - it's greatly appreciated0

maybe if you pointed out that what you meant was to put it srtraight onto a standard spur ( as per a new light) comming from the ring main it would of made sense..
What you meant was that you need a seperate line that was specifically for the shower the same as a cooker with its own trip switch..
As per the Windmill comment I thought it was funny as the poster quite rightly meant if you cant connect to the mains where do you get the electric from???THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -

Actually, 6mm may be more than adequate, dependant upon power of unit & length of cable run. Take professional advice.
Brownbake, I know what you mean, but you did not write it as you meant it, of course you can wire it to the mains:beer:wont work without it0 -
You may be able to simply have the cartridge replaced on the existing Aqualisa as they market parts for all of their showers, including o rings and gaskets (o rings inside the connecting elbows may be the cause of the leak in the wall, but more likely the cartridge gasket that it sits against which I think is available as a separate part and certainly comes with the replacement cartridge as well as the hot o ring that sits right inside), even the classic models. Stuart Turner are excellent quality pumps and very serviceable, so check out the option of repair first as Aqualisa and Stuart Turner are a very good combination.
If you need to replace then you may be able to simply replace the thermostatic valve with something similar, retaining the Stuart Turner.0 -

Hi
That would be a Stuart Turner twin impeller shower pump which will deliver hot and cold water to a shower mixer @ 1.8 bar (or whatever it rated at) The pump will be electric, the shower will not. It could be any shower mixer, as long as it's suitable for pumped water pressure. Have you considered getting a plumber to look at it? It might just need a replacement cartridge or the inlet union tightening.

Just like MSP says.....Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0
