Best Way To Spend Me MBNA Points?

I have managed to accumulate 16k in points and want to spend it on something useful.

Just wondered you get more value for your points by actually getting a 'good/item/service´ as opposed to shopping vouchers which are 4k for 10GBP or cash.

Problem is most of the stuff I don't actually need or really want. I looked up stuff like for example the Worx drill is 7.5k points and 51GBP in Argos whereas Onyx Woods set is 6.6k points and 34GBP.

Any advice from people who have used their points before, would be a great help as to what I should discount and refine my choices :)

Thanks

I tried to use mine within the travel section as it stated 5000points was £50 off, so found some easy jet flights went to bok and got charged a booking fee which meant i wouldve been out of pocket booking through MBNA rewards, so just booked direct with easyjet, was much cheaper.
total con, MBNA are a complete rip off imho
  • Just a quick note to say that the company behind buyandfly and the company behind barclaycards travel rewards landround plc has just gone into administration. I tried calling the call centre but they had no idea what I was on about despite it being listed as important information on the barclays travel rewards webpage.

I know this is an old thread, but the MBNA rewards seem the same now.
I think that most ways you spend your points, they are worth 0.5p. So I am getting sainsbury's vouchers, so I know the points won't be wasted, it will displace real money I would have spent anyway. Getting cash is less efficient - they are only worth 0.4p each as cash! I have spent a *long* time trailing through all their kitchen items etc, looking for useful things that i need, only to realise after many hours that all those things are available in Argos, and on Argos prices, your points are still worth about 0.5p. So if you did want kitchen things, just get the argos vouchers at £20 once you have saved up 4000 points and take a trip there - the browser for the reward points seems so timewasting!
