2 Week Honeymoon St Lucia / Maldives

Hey Everyone!

I have been put in sole responsibility by my other half to organise our honeymoon next July...and as it is my only responsibility regarding the big day I need to get it right!!!

As we are getting married on the 25th July 09 I want to travel on the 27th/28th or 29th of July for 2 weeks. leaving from any London Airport.

I like the look of St Lucia or the Maldives, and will be looking to do it on an All Inclusive Basis for 14 nights.

I have been searching for ages now and being a beginner in overseas holidays, let alone a honeymoon I have to say I am going round in circles, and would be entirely grateful for any help or opinions you could share.

My budget is £1500 per person. Is there any particular company you would recommend I speak to, or a particular resort in either of the above places, any offers your aware of etc any kind of help you can give me would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

    hi

the budget you have for those destinations is a bit low based on the dates of departure you have.

maldives and st lucia are probably gonna push you over 2k per person

A quick look at First Choice for the Maldives (dep 26 Jul) or Virgin (dep 27 Jul) for St Lucia would suggest that you do some homework before making misleading statements.

Of course, it all depends on what grade of hotel the OP is looking for, but their budget is doable.

i have just looked at some holidays on viewdata, and there are some prices to st lucia at around 1750.00pp however the hotels wouldnt be suitable for a honeymoon in my opinion, also maldives again thomas cook around 1700-1800 but again the standards maybe wouldnt be as high as hoped, my advice would be if it is possible to up the budget for these detainations and get a better class of hotel

again the comment you have made above here isnt very nice

Well I'm sorry if you don't like my comment, but the OP has said they would like a honeymoon and stated what their budget is. The budget is doable. You, on the other hand, without even quantifying your statement in your first response, have suggested that they will probably need to spend over £2k each.

What if the OP has absolutely no knowledge of these destinations, yet immediately abandons all plans to travel to a much dreamt of destination because a Travel Agent advises them that they probably won't be able to afford it?

The last time I checked, this was a Money Saving website.

I find it bizzare how you make such statements like you do its not a competition

we are all here to help each other, andrea had put a notice on the board about frequent users making comments about others, i do not wish to have an argument about quotes, I am here to advise the people on what prices that I can see and there is nothing that I can see that is within there budget that would qualify as a nice honeymoon to st lucia or the maldives, there are some hotels at 1700 like i have just mentioned.

please dont be offended by what i have put but i dont think its appropriate to carry this conversation on

crabbman2004 - I would suggest you take a look at the First Choice website for the Maldives, although the flight might not be ideal for you as the closest flight to your dates leaves on Sunday 26th July.

Virgin are a good starting point for looking for holidays to St Lucia. 2 weeks there looks to start around £1600pp for a 3 star hotel, but remember they are totally flexible (dependant on flight schedules) so you could probably afford a higher grade of accomodation for the sake of cutting a couple of days from your duration.

Also check the big companies like Kuoni and Hayes and Jarvis - people often discount them as 'too expensive' but they can be extremely competitively priced and often feature some very good special offers.

Check a company called Caribbean Warehouse for both destinations, their 'from' prices are very good and I have heard good reports about them previously on this forum.

    HTH.

    In your opinion, obviously.
  • Have you thought about a Caribbean cruise out of say Miami? We have had some fantastic cruises on Royal Caribbean, if you book through an American travel agent you get much better prices...

Just a thought, for the budget you have you could also upgrade to balcony or junior suite...

OP - the price I referred to earlier with First Choice is 2 weeks AI dep 18.05 on Sun 26 Jul from Gatwick, to Club Faru in The Maldives, currently showing as £2886 total. Club Faru has some very good reviews on Trip Advisor here:
