more than one current account?

Does anyone know if it is possible to have more than one current account with first direct? A joint (bills) account and a personal (spending) account - would you have to pay the fee on the personal account if your salary only went into the joint account?

Yes it is possible although I think it states in their t &c's that they do not recognise sole accounts to be in the same name as joint accounts to qualify from being exempt for the banking fee.

Therefore you would probably need £1500 to be credited to joint account and then to have a credit card/savings account in your own name. You would then not pay the fee on your own account.

We have joint and sole accounts with FD. Salaries go to sole accounts and joint expenses money is transferred onward to the joint account by standing orders.
We have been using this system for years now, long before the £1500/fees rule. We do have various FD savings accounts and credit linked to both the joint and sole accounts so do not pay any fees.
This has worked well for us, all the current accounts have a fee free overdraft and it is very easy and quick to move money between any of the various saving and current accounts.
