gas meter m3

Hi I think I've got a dodgy gas meter which was installed last December. I was just wondering how many units m3 other mser's use in an hour of using their central heating as I think mine is spinning like a top. In 6 hours of use I have used 7m3 units .Is this about right. It is a combi boiler. I would appreciate tohear other peoples views, thanks shrewdal

    Sounds about right.

    1 m3 is roughly 10.85kWh

    1 kW is 3414 btu

If your boiler is rated at 43,000 btu or more (typically they are about 80,000 btu) then it's entirely feasible, depending on how long it is actually burning for in the 6 hours. i.e. if it's an 80,000btu it would only need to be alight about 50% of the time.

Put a thermal vest on.Its much cheaper and you;ll only pay for it once.
  • Sounds about right... your previous meter was probably measured in cubic feet... and each unit would have been multiplied by 2.7 to give you the equivalent of 1 unit on your new meter.
