I'm in Thailand and I've heard on the grapevine that Bangkok Bank maybe experiencing problems. Anyone know where you can find out more info on this and banks that may or may nor be covered by UK legislaton ?? Found this on "howsafeisyourmoney" website :- Bangkok Bank Public Company Ltd uses the FSA registration number 204617. Does this mean money in Bangkok Bank in Thailand is as safe as UK banks/building socs. or not ??

The FSA authorisation only means that depositors' funds (in the UK) of up to 50,000 GBP are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme - deposits in Thailand would presumably be covered by any such scheme which may be operated by the Thai regulators.Does this mean money in Bangkok Bank in Thailand is as safe as UK banks/building socs. or not ?
