just moved into a 1 bed flat
Help!!!!!!!!!!!
ok i have recnetly moved into a 1 bed flat, we are currently on edf economy 7. the water heater has the automatic switch that uses eco7 tarrif however we have storage heaters..... as we are finding it cold already we have had to put 1 on in the living room. however our nightly usage has gone up to 20 units more per night.... is this right????
10/10/08
day. 12980
night. 19401
total. 32382
1/11/08
day 13079
night 19551
total 32630
2/11/08 - this is when i turned the storage heater on (comes on at night)
day 13083
night 19577
total 32661
3/11/08
day 13089
night 19600
total 32690
is this right as i worked out from 10/10 to 1/11 we used 99 day units and 150 night units? total- 249 units???
then from turning the heater on: 2/11 to 3/11 in ONE night we have used 6 day units and 23 night units??? total of 29 units???
i currently have a fixed direct debit of £65per month coming out.... is this all correct i have the storage heater right down and its a comfortable heat as it pretty much heats the whole flat.

Yes, that sounds right.
Storage heaters use a lot of energy - that's why E7 is a good deal for households like yours.0 -
Sounds about right
Daytime you are using about 5 units per day (99 units over 20 days). =/-1 unit per day on any specific day is in order as it could be because of using more electricity that day or simply the effect of fractions of a unit applying.
1 storage heater can consume 20+ units of energy overnight, especially if heating from cold.
(e.g. 7 hours x 3.4kW = 23.8kWh)
Don't forget it's not just the storage heaters using the cheap rate electricity - all electricity consumed during the E7 discount hours will be charged at cheap rate."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
thanks for the info guys

its been worrying me as the llandlord that use to live here said he was using £100 a month, he did say hed have the heaters on and the window open and leave lights and computers on. i thought that was a bit steep as a friend lives in another flat over the road that has the same layout n pays about £60 a month.... and had a rebate then end of the year for £140
i think once we hopefully get some sun it will even out???
i have the storage heater right down as its like an oven in here now and should disperse the heat more throughout the day as we are out 9 -6 throughout the week....0
