workin tax credits

dear all
i got working tax credits now , but can the stop it at all as they pay mouthly to me.
is it for the whole yr or not as i was on ssp for a while now as i gone back to work now .

    if your estimated income has gone up due to your return to work, then you need to call them. this will almost certainly result in at least a reduction in what they pay.

  • If you started receiving the benefit this year then they will have worked out the amount due from the start date to the end of the year (5th April 2009) and then set out a schedule showing how that amount will be paid to you.

    The start date may be earlier than your application asI think it can be backdated for a limited period.

    The amount payable will have been calculated using last year's earnings or your estimate for this year. It will be subject to review after April next year when your actual income is known.

    You can end up being overpaid and an amount would be clawed back by reducing or stopping your payments. But if you keep them informed of any changes in circumstances (and make sure they act on it!) then you should be all right.
    If it’s not important to you, don’t consume it
