I sent BACS payment to BT by mistake :(

I recently (and mistakenly) sent a BACS payment to British Telecom of over £200 and although I realised within seconds what I had done, it was too late; the money had left my account and wasn't recoverable by the bank - I had to phone BT.
You guessed it, I was transferred from pillar to post and got absolutely nowhere through their call centres, and here I am, still short of over £200. I've had the bank to do what they call a 'trace' and once completed will send me some legal documents I'm led to believe and I've also send a letter to their complaints department giving them 7 working days to pay back the money.
Should I wait for the documents from my bank or should I wait until the 7 working days are up and then complete a county court judgement to recover the money??
I'm pretty new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated

Give them all a little time to resolve it for you before firing off court documents (at your expense).
It was, after all, your mistake.
You run the risk of a County Court ruling in your favour but making a costs order against you.0 -

I agree. Patience is the key here unfortunately. You will get your money back, but knowing BT it may take them some time to get around to it.0 -
Cheers guys, I tried calling BT and was told they would phone me back on a number of occassions but never did, so I was getting increasingly frustrated that unless I went down the legal route, I wouldn't see a penny of the money again.
I agree it was my fault, not denying that for a second but if I could actually speak to someone and they said 'no problems we will pay it back in X amount of days' then fine, but I was either being disconnected or palmed off, damned if you do and damned if you dont.0 -

Yes but if it was the other way around, a bank accidentally paid you money, they can demand is back instantly. I don't see why it works for one but not the other.0
