    Paying "another company that may not be named outside one specific thread"'s standard tariffs? Are you mad?
  • Are you mad?? :eek::eek:

    Mad about what exactly?
  • Check out the switching sites to discover why you should be. Mad, that is. Or are.

    Is it time for your nap yet? :rolleyes:

    TBH, I can't find ANY other energy company's tariff that is anywhere near as expensive as npower's standard electric. Certainly the company whose name you cannot mention on any other thread would be £200+ cheaper than npower on my usage. Online tariffs from the other energy companies would give an even bigger saving.

    Energylinx claims that Npower would save me £100/yr on the today announced EBICo leccy tariff I use. Howerver Energylinx may be quoting me a price just before a hike. Is there any energy comparison site that copes with the "When was last and when is lext price change for this co" type of question?
  • If you scroll half way down the page you'll see the list of companies and when they last put up their prices. Ebico last put up their prices 2/10/08.

  • Ebico are probably the only company that can compete with npower in the ridiculously overpriced electricity stakes, lol.

    Apparently Ebico have a policy that Prepaid Meters with them cost the same as Direct Debits. So maybe the Direct Debit Folks are subsidising the Prepays? Looks like I need to abandon EBICo anyway, as I said, NPower came out £100 cheaper over a year using the Energylinx as the comparison site.

    Actually they do make it all a bit of hocus-pocus: Why can't I buy blocks of power online like phone minutes?

    [ EDIT ] And using the MSE recommended Energyhelpline site, NPower is coming out top by a large margin (dual power option). Is this 'cos a price hike is just due? And why all the slagging off above if NPower is coming out top?

    It totally depends on where you are in the country as to whether Npower are likely to be expensive or cheap. I live in a former Npower owned area - Midlands which means they are expensive for me. My work colleague's mum lives in London and Npower is cheap for her.

    If in doubt between the different comparison sites take a look at what the tariffs and prices they are quoting say and re-work out your annual bill using those prices to make sure they are really giving you the savings they say they are. The estimated total annual cost on these sites may be a lot more accurate than the "savings" they think they can give.
    Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
