Marbles

in Credit cards
I recently tried to close my Marbles credit card.
I paid the total outstanding amount by the due date and did not have any transactions on my account, however they still managed to charge me 1p extra interest, so that my account is still open.
I have double and triple checked figures, but i have not missed 1p. Can they do this?
Has anyone any ideas about whether this is common practice?

[Can you not just send them a penny by bill payment to nil the account?]
BTW 1p in interest seems unlikely to be correct if it represents standard interest even for 1 day only on even the smallest amounts o/s.
You could phone them up of course [but only if it is free to do so!] and ask them to waive that penny - they may even offer you a sweetener simply not to close the account?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

I have paid the penny.
The thing is that they are making it hard for people to close their accounts. Why go to the trouble of sending the penny by post, most people wouldn't bother and so are still active account holders.
Surely it is against the banking code to charge someone something that they don't owe merely to keep them as customers.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0
