Is there a time out after logging on?

I've just composed a lengthy post in reply to an existing one. When I tried to submit I found I'd been logged off and lost everything typed. This has happened several times in the past. What am doing wrong?

no I haven't done that but will do so when I log on. I think I'll have to do that everytime as I regularly use ccleaner to delete saved information.
