We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Liuhut - I was beginning to wonder if anyone had actually read it!:rotfl:
Pigpen - sorry you're having a tough time and hope things start to improve soon for you and yours. How is GIL?
AnW's Mum - you will be sooooooooooo proud, how lovely for you.
Speaking of Remembrance Day........DD is disappointed that she won't be in uniform for this year, but I think it's time we did more in the UK anyway. My sister has just returned from a week in Kos where they celebrated Oki Day, to commemorate where they took a stand against the Italians in 1940. Apparently every shop was closed and everyone participated in the celebrations with every school pupil smartly turned out, with a flag to represent each school. She said it was super.
In the UK, we're so proud of the fact that we won the war that many don't even stop to observe the 2 minute silence! I think we could do with a bit more National Pride. Sorry - rant over. And anyway, there may be those of you who don't agree for your own personal reasons, so hope I haven't offended.

Agree. All we seem to do is apologise for having a history, traditions, and a culture as a country. My favourite band - Show of Hands have a song called Roots that is concerned with the loss of our culture / past as a country. It mainly focuses on music but the sentiments are there. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=P5h4PFBuzvw
Now it's been 25 years or more
I've roamed this land from shore to shore
From Tyne to Tamar, Severn to Thames
From moor to vale, from peak to fen
Played in cafes, pubs and bars
I've stood in the street with my old guitar
But I'd be richer than all the rest
If I had a pound for each request
For 'Duelling Banjos', 'American Pie'
It's enough to make you cry
'Rule Britannia', or 'Swing low...'
Are they the only songs we English know?
Seed, bud, flower, fruit
They're never gonna grow without their roots
Branch, stem, shoot
They need roots
After the speeches, when the cake's been cut
The disco's over and the bar is shut
At christening, birthday, wedding or wake
What can we sing 'til the morning breaks
When the Indians, Asians, Afro-Celts
It's in their blood, below their belt
They're playing and dancing all night long
So what have they got right that we've got wrong?
Seed, bud, flower, fruit
They're never gonna grow without their roots
Branch, stem, shoot
They need roots and
Haul away boys, let them go
Out in the wind and the rain and snow
We've lost more than we'll ever know
'Round the rocky shores of England
We need roots
And a minister said his vision of hell
Is three folk singers in a pub near Wells
Well, I've got a vision of urban sprawl
There's pubs where no-one ever sings at all
And everyone stares at a great big screen
Overpaid soccer stars, prancing teens
Australian soap, American rap
Estuary English, baseball caps
And we learn to be ashamed before we walk
Of the way we look, and the way we talk
Without our stories or our songs
How will we know where we come from?
I've lost St. George in the Union Jack
It's my flag too and I want it back
Seed, bud, flower, fruit
Never gonna grow without their roots
Branch, stem, shoot
We need roots
Haul away boys, let them go
Out in the wind and the rain and snow
We've lost more than we'll ever know
'Round the rocky shores of England
We need roots...We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

hex2 just read that your posting off expenses & mileage claim for m etc... just a weird thought, are you with an umberella company?as this is exactly what we do/did, in fact posting my last ones off tomorrow...just crossing over to a ltd firm this month...
Pigpen sorry to hear the crappy news hun (((hugs))).
I got most of the list done today and a few extras too, but now i am too tired to list them all, think its time for bed
Night all xxYou can touch the dust but please don't write in it !
Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?0 -
Vivw - just listened to that on Youtube with DS. We really liked them and will look for more of their work, but .................I'm in Wales!:rotfl:I still agree tho - "National Pride for the United Kingdom and the Union Flag being used as it should be, without recriminations about it offending other nationalities who happen to live in the UK, which would not be our intention anyway. IYSWIM
BTW - you're not a relative, are you? Sis who went to Kos is Viv and her surname begins with a "W". :rotfl:
Probably won't be in first thing as I "volunteered" to take DS's GF and her parents to Bath to the specialist ME clinic, as they were going to go on the train as they don't know the way. (Doh - thought that was why they had a SatNav) Anyway, I do know the way, having taken my DS, Mum having lived there for 12 years, and it being family roots anyway.
I will try to get dailies done before I go out, and see what I can manage when I get home.
BTW - can somone remind me how to attach a photo as we have uncovered an amazing one I'd love to show you.
There's a lot of nasty stuff around at the moment and I'm still waiting for my antibiotics to start working - since Friday! Goodnight all and get well wishes. xDMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419
