I dunno. i think if vanity of a few is the price we suffer for charity from them its a price worth paying. It makes them feel good, it helps people....I have trouble finding the evil in that.0

It's the Dragons' Den syndrome all over again. Multi-Millionaires that have all the money they could ever dream off but nobody knows who they are!
Hence any opportunity to feature on the media and they'll jump at the chance, hey Duncan Bannatyne even paid his with own money to appear on a TV show as an extra, it's supposed to be the TV show that pays the extras, not the other way around!Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Im glad its not just me that disapproves of this show. My wife seems to think Im really heartless but it just looks like another "exploit the proles" opportunity on the surface.
Some rich person tools about pretending to be on the dole for a couple of weeks with cameras following them 24/7. Hands out a few quid, everybody cries (every time) and they get a ton of free advertising for whatever it is they "do".
Mind you the first one I saw was that vile buy to let Inside track style woman who handed out btl mortgages and the promise that her proteges could learn to be rich just like her. I was never really willing to give it a chance after that.0 -
Or Alan sugar, buys a football club that doesn't do much for his popularity so he gets the Apprentice show instead......ad44downey wrote: »It's the Dragons' Den syndrome all over again. Multi-Millionaires that have all the money they could ever dream off but nobody knows who they are!

Only caught a couple of these because like everyone else, they make me feel a little nauseous.
No one else seems to feel the need to go on TV to part with some money or help out.
And I'm not convinced most of these guys on this kind of program are "multi millionaires" either, more likely wannabes with a few quid to toss about making themselves look rich.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. There was a follow up programme about this not long ago.
Apparently they didnt manage to save the majority of the homes, but the house he double glazed (cant remember what the child was called?) was saved and they are now warm!
He bought land nearby and has build new 'affordable' accommodation that the people can buy. He also negotiated around £20k more per house from the council and visits the area every week.
I question why people 'need' to give money away on TV but he seems to be pretty genuine0 -

I`ve watched a few of these but the last series did seem rather lame. I was so pleased for the little girl that had her room done.0 -

Exactly - as i mentioned in a previous post (and got slated for it rather bizarrely) it was his money and time and he did not have to do this, even after the cameras had gone home. How many people dedicate that amount of time and money to strangers these days?
I could probably count on one hand..... 0 -
