Using my Visa debit card abroad

Am i covered against fraud should I get scammed?
Any idea if there is a limit imposed on debit cards like those limits credit cards have?
Suppose I have 10k in my account. Can I purchase something up to the value of 10k abroad? I know in the UK it is possible and that the debit card is limitless so long you can cover the liability.

The best thing to do is add £20 to every transaction and that way you shouldn't go over your limit.0 -

Depends on what you mean by 'scammed' - if you mean are you covered if you make an unwise purchase the answer is no (nor would you be here, generally).
If your card is fraudulently used by someone else, then yes, you should be covered.0 -
If you do plan to use your credit card overseas I would advise you to call the credit card company before you go and advise them of this. Sometimes if there is sudden usage overseas, the credit card company thinks its fraudulent and may put a stop on it anyway.0

if you're planning to spend a large amount whilst away it might not be a bad idea to go into your bank and let them know, so that they don't freeze your account in the assumption somebody else has used your card.0

What do you mean by "fraudulently"? Suppose i lose my wallet, a scammer gets it and he charges me 10k. Am i not covered? can the bank detect from the charge itself if its fraud or not? Recently my sister got scammed for 2k and the bank a week later returned her money. Am wondering on how can they know if it really was a scam or her scamming the bank?
I wanna be sure am covered should the worst happens0 -
Do not use your debit card abroad - except in ATMs. Use a credit card.
You may well be covered for fraudulent use - but in the meantime the fraudsters have emptied YOUR bank account. How do your mortgage and all the other monthly payments get paid ? Also, if you look at other posts on this site, you get the distinct impression that the banks are in no great hurry to repay debit card fraud - after all, it isn't their money that someone has spent !0
