Sony 40v4000 HDMI / Picture switching problem.

Have bought the above TV to go with a media center I have built. I connect to the media center via HDMI, and the TV also connects to a sky box via scart (AV1).

The media center works fine with HDMI, all set to 1920x1080 etc, and sky picture pretty good to.
So far so good..
However, if I am viewing the PC over HDMI, and then decide to switch to AV1 to view sky, thats ok, but if I switch back again to HDMI, all I get is a black screen. I have to power off the media center, and reboot to get a picture.

Stumped me so far, and unable to see any option on the TV or in ATi calayst control to resolve the issue. Ideas welcome!

When watching Sky have you tried just putting the sky box on standby and see if it automatically switches to the hdmi with the picture?

Doesn't seem to make any difference.
Only workaround I have is to use svideo from the sky box to the media center, but the picture quality isn't so great. Not sure what spec my hdmi cable is, might be 1.1 or 1.2 at best. Would a 1.3 cable make any diifference?

a 1.3 cable wont make any difference to your problem. Its for 'true colour' (Just means it allows a higher spec of colour reproduction when using a suitable source and tv)

I've had this same issue. It's because there needs to be a "Hello" signal to tell the TV and the graphics card that they need to communicate.

Try refreshing the signal from the PC in one of two ways:

1: If the Media Centre is running, press the Windows key on your keyboard
2: If Media Centre is not running, press the green MCE button on your remote.

You should then find your picture comes back oafter a few seconds
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
