mbna cancelled my "VIP Entertainment card" with live nation (was whiteroom)

just a heads up to any one who is like me and has the mbna "VIP Entertainment card" (it used to be mbnas whiteroom card) looks like from a leter i received yesterday live nation and mbna are parting company so will no longer be working together to provide this card, ive had a letter from mbna stating as of 30th November the card will be cancelled, and that i have until 29th January to redeem the loyalty points.

am frustrated after being a customer of theirs for over 6 years mbna have not even offerd an alternative card (wonder if its because they never get intrest from me lol!)

however i would love to know what will happen if any of the concerts/theatre shows i ahve paid for are cancelled (not to mention any other perchases etc) and therefore i need a refund, how can i get a refund to a card that no longer exists?? or do i just have to hope and pray that non of the concerts are cancelled?

I had a letter from them about my VIP Entertainment Card too but it stated they would be changing it over to a Sony card. They also said I'd be getting 2000 points when it changes over which is enough to buy a CD (at a quick glance of the site).

Edit to say that they've never had any interest from me either and I've had my card for a similar length of time as you.

I'll miss the great seats at concerts, it'll be fastest finger first in future sadly :-(

dont worry about that i am not sure if you are aware but you can still sign up as a member of www.livenation.co.uk and therefore can still get their online presale tickets as well, without the card, i have just set up a seperate account for that as thats the one thing i will miss too, ive only ever used the VIP suites at one theatre venue and that was only twice, at the london lyceum) so i wont miss that one

not sure as to why i have not been changed to another card, as i use theirs without fail, and have a good credit history, but to be honest i am not too bothered as i keep meaning to cut down the number of credit cards i have (as i have several which are open but havent used for ages, so at least it means i dont have the hassell of cancelling one of the cards lol! )

the only thing that has really made me fed up is ive had to spend this morning logging onto my online accounts and changing the payment info, for amazon, hmv, itunes, ticketmaster and so on to one of my other credit cards

I am in the same boat as anna24hmr my card has been cancelled and they have not offerd me a new card, I wonderd the same if it was because I did not give them any intrest. Thanks for tip about still being able to sign up to Live nation.

Managed to order some compost bin liners X2 with my points.

no problem, glad to help. weve ordered a wine rack and a £5 hmv e voucher with mine, on principle that i am using the points lol! i usually order the arcadia group vouchers but am a couple hundred points short of the amount i needed

i cant help thinking thats why ive not been offered an alternative, as i have never ever missed a payment in all the years ive had the card, use it on a regular basis, (ie weekly) dont pay them interest and have never paid late fees, balence transfer fees etc, and have a good credit rating, so i dont make them money, which i suppose is fair comment

my free dvd has arrived today courtesy of mbna (well the £5 hmv e voucher i obtained with my points anyway! lol) just waiting for the wine rack to arrive from where ever they send it from

has any one else on here had the card cancelled and have you been offered an alternate card or not?

Hi anna42hmr, my card has been cancelled too and i never pay them any interest either. I have had the card for a LONG time now, and it's the only credit card that I have, so I need to obtain another one if I am to continuing buying stuff from the net.:eek:

By the way, do you have a link to the latest catalogue which shows what is on offer when redeeming my points ? I looked on their site and it didnt show many items to choose from and their site didnt seem to be updated. This is the page that I visited :-

hi try ringing mbna up. i just did as i had a queery as i have booked several theatre shows and gigs for next year so wanted to know what would happen to refunds if any of them were cancelled and the agents were refunding, she then said if i wanted to they could do a telephone application for a new account if i wanted to (couldnt garentee acceptance) i declined the offer as i dont need a new one, (plus it has given me a kick up the bum to reduce the number of credit cards i hold lol!)

as for the catalogue, that appears to be the same link that i had, but you are right, it appears to have less to choose from than it did the othernight when i redeemed mine

as my account is now nil as i paid it all of last week, do you think i should call them now to ask them to cancel from now or should i wait to let them do it the end of this month??

also would there be any difference on the credit reports if i cancel it as opposed to them cancelling it??
