Travel Insurance Morbid Question - Sorry

Does anyone know how much insurance cover you should get if you die whilst on holiday in Europe and your spouse or vice versa needs to transport your body back home. One policy said that they would only cover up to £1000 with £200 excess, doesn't seem very much to me.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks:A

  • Hiya

You need to check your policy wording - but tbh it doesnt cost that much to repat a body back to the UK from Europe - Avg cost is around £3k....... And if your insurers moan about paying that for death... you need to thnk about changing them!! (think how much it would cost them for a prolonged hospital stay if you dont die  )

  • BTW which policy were you looking at?? As some of ours have 1k limit but we wouldnt dream of not covering over that amount

You're not thinking of Switzerland, are you?

On a serious note if indeed the OP is, then i must advise you speak to someone asap. The repatriation of a body will most likely be the least of your families worries x

Personally I wanted to ensure that I wasn't inadvertently enabling someone to go ahead with a trip to Dignitas.

Nothing and i do hope that is the case.

But there is nothing wrong ith showing concern for others, particularly when the question appears a little - leading at the very least.
