Eurotunnel - not good for frequent travellers

You can buy 10 tickets up front as a frequent traveller, however they only have certain availability on each train. Now that there are less trains due to the fire there are less freqent traveller tickets. I am wishing to travel on Fri 26th - boxing day at midday and there is no avavilability for 6 hours either side. However if I am willing to pay then there is plenty of availability! Be carefull. Customer service are useless and of no help.

Why are you surprised?! It's Boxing Day!
It's like booking cheap flights – you benefit from the cost of a cheap flight (1p + taxes) but there are stated black out periods, such as half-term breaks, during which you can't travel! It prevents you from benefitting from dirt-cheap flights during periods of high demand, and I'd assume that it's the same with the Chunnel.
You have to decide what's more important to you – the price you pay, or travelling on a specific date... The Chunnel is so quick that unless you absolutely HAVE to be somewhere that day, I don't really see what the problem is with booking later than evening or for the following day.If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

You should also be aware that the main priority for Eurotunnel at the moment is moving people who were already booked onto the fewer trains that they have running now. Once that is done there may be more spaces available for new bookings and you could find your times are there. Okay you purchase 10 tickets upfront, but you get them at rock bottom prices, that is your benefit, getting preferential treatment is not.
As for your comments on customer service, I work in customer service dealing with customers all day and we always say that the only happy ones are the ones who get what they want, if it's not in our power to give it to them, then we're 'useless'!Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

The tunnel won't be fully operational until February 09, so of course services will be restricted because of the fire. I checked out a day trip to France for half-term and decided that it wasn't worth it because of the high single trip cost each way and the reduced services. The man without a signature.0
