Can someone please help...DVD Burning

Hi

Hope someone can give me some advice:

I bought a DVD recorder and transferred our baby's vhs cassette onto a DVD +RW. What I want to do now is make more copies (burn) to send to family. I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop that has a dvd rw. Only problem is I cant seem to burn it. It just comes up with errors. It is about 1h:30min. I can view it on the laptop and I also tried to burn a smaller dvd recorded from tv so everything is working. I think the DVD that I want to burn is probably to big. Any suggestions how I can fix this?

Thanks.

  • Assuming you have suitable software, Is this the first time you have tried to burn with the drive - if it is make sure the region code of the drive is set to 2.

2 is the code for england and this may be the problem.
  • Hi

I have done that all is working well. I managed to record about 2 mins from the tv and then burn it so it is working. I just have to figure how to burn the other dvd.
  • In that case, what software are you using, what make of disc's and make of drive.
  • Hi

Software is sonic digital media, im using dvd-rw which is what the laptop's drive is.
  • What is the brand of the disc - eg. datawrite, ridisc etc..
  • The disks are Philips
  • I think the disks are ok because I managed to record and burn from tv.
  • Have you used this brand of disc for copying this sort of product.

What is the size of the video product - will it fit onto the dvd.
  • Hi already used this setup to record and burn succesfully.

What I cant do is burn the dvd that is 1h:30min in length. I dont know how to do that. Is it possible to "break it up"?

If the problem is that it's too big then you can reduce the size with DVD Shrink. Current version is 3.2 and it's free.

Not convinced that is your problem though as (unless it's very high quality) 1hr 30 should fit on a DVD easily.

    Worth a go though.
