Compare Sony KDL26V4000 with Sharp LC26D44

I went to buy my sony KDL26V4000 from Richer Sounds and they told me there that I would be better off buying the Sharp LC26D44 as it is a better tv for response time and a better tv all round. I got quite confused, so I decided not to buy anything and come back hope to research a bit more about the Sharp. Can anyone help me on this as this is getting rather confusing for a non techie.
All your help would be greatly appreciated.

The sony is the one to go for. Dont EVER believe a word anyone from Richer Sounds says. Theyre good to BUY from, terrible at advise
The Sony is regarded as the best 26" to buy
Also, iv heard of screen problems with the Sharp range of tvs.

Yes - I totally agree with alienrik.

I just bought a Sony KDL-26T3000 after doing considerable research.

Sony and Panasonic were the 2 best 26" tvs by far and Sharp wasn't even rated.

Go for the Sony and you won't regret it. I haven't - my Sony is great !!

From personal experience I would never recommend Sharp.

I had bad reliability (failed edge connectors leading to vertical lines on the screen) and very poor customer service from them.

Did they have the Sony TV in stock? Heard that if the item you are looking for are not in stock then they will try to sell you something else claiming it is a better model.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

They also try to get you to buy ANYTHING that they either want to get rid of (In the case of them attempting to sell my grandfather some cr*p speakers), or ones they have lots of (In my case, they tried to tell me the Samsung hdtv is better quality than a Pioneer!!)

Their Loss, I bought it from 'sound and vision' instead :p
