Comet rip-off update

Just to update you on the DVD recorder which has developed the same fault 3 times in 18 months.
Thanks to all of you who took the time to offer advice. Firstly, can I clarify that the fault is that the machine can not read the loaded discs. It loads without a problem, but gives an error message of inappropriate disc found. This is with prerecorded and blank discs. Comet have inspected the machine and agree that this is a recurrent fault. It is in no way user error or misuse.
After taking all the advice, I have contacted head office with a letter from trading standards. However, they still insist that I pay for the repair. My husband has been into the local store, handing out leaflets 3 times, and has been threatened by the manager. We have never been abusive, but have made quiet protests telling the truth. The last time my husband went into the store, the manager lost it and snatched the leaflets out of customers hands. Very professional!!
However, we are at stale-mate. Where do we go from here? Any further ideas will be greatfully received. Thanks.
