I bought a blackurrant plant today in Wilikinsons.

To be honest I have never tried blackcurrants other than those in jam so it will be a bit of a novelty if it grows and fruits.

There is just one thing, does anyone else think blackcurrant leaves smell like cat pee?

I bought a blackcurrant bush in Wilkinsons last year - it was so small it died and I'm normally pretty good with plants. I think these plants are so small and frail that it will probably be several years before they're bit and strong enough to bear fruit. However if anybody has got any blackcurrant bushes, some of the young leaves make an interesting addition to a mixed green leaf salad.
