Netgear DG834GT cannot access Router

I've been using the MSE favourite Router Netgear DG834GTcombined with the Adapter WG111TGE on my Dell 3000 for a few months.
I recently bought the Dell Laptop Inspiron 1300 and have been trying to connect that.
I've had internet connection to the laptop and the pc but not at the same time, but I can now no longer connect to either of them.
I've tried going back to the start and removing/uninstalling everything and resetting router.
I've read loads of the threads on the sticky but I seem to grind to a halt 'cos when I try to connect to the router, http://192.168.0.1/ I can't get connected.

Any help or advice welcome. I'm 8 hours into this now and very frustrated.

Re-boot the pc, try again, if that fails, turn off router for 15 secs disconnect from power supply, try again, if that fails, hit the reset button with a pin or a paperclip and hold in for 15 secs and then go through the set up wizard on the router.

I presume you know your ISP settings and password? If not, dont do the resetting bit as all the info is lost.
